MLG Conducts 2018 POC Performance Audit

Minister of Local Government Atty Naguib Sinarimbo spearheaded the Peace and Order Council (POC) Performance Audit of its sub Peace and Order Councils on 20 May 2019 at the MLG office, Cotabato City.

 A five-man Regional Audit Team (RAT) chaired by MLG RPOC Head Secretariat Atty Naguib G Sinarimbo, PNP Maj John Paolo V Carracedo, PDEA-BARMM Assistant Regional Director Marlon Santos, PDEA-IX &BaSulTa Agent Marvin C Santos, CSO Representative Oting A Agting and another member of the RPOC as determined by RPOC Chair Chief Minister Ahud B Ebrahim in the person of CCCH-MILF Head Butch Malang constitutes the audit team which audited and validated all five Provincial POCs within the Region.

The Audit aims to assess the performance of the local POCs, their functionality and compliance to existing laws and policies. It will also determine the best practices conducted and initiated by the POCs and POC Secretariats and their possible interventions and improvement strategies, as well as create a platform for evaluation, assessment and sharing of best practices between and among POCs and Secretariats.

There are five pillars of audit criteria considered: Organization, Meetings, Policies/Plan/Budget, Reports and Innovations.

MLG Assistant Secretary Lininding M Lao stressed that the creation of the Audit Teams is in line with the directive of DILG to ensure efficient performance of the local councils and the programs and activities being undertaken.

The POC Performance Audit initiated by the Department of the Interior and Local Government through the Bureau of Local Government Supervision is now on its 2nd year of implementation. Last year’s Performance Audit was strictly for profiling only, however for this year, mechanism for sanctions and awards will form part of the Audit.

Minister Sinarimbo lauded the efforts of the POCs for their all-out support in the campaign to fight criminality, illegal drugs, and other illegal activities. He also called on everyone for support to ensure a peaceful and secured community for the development of the Region.
